🔌 Function
The tester applies controlled pressure or vacuum to a sealed sterndrive or outboard gearcase. Holding the test pressure confirms the integrity of propeller-shaft, driveshaft, shift-shaft and housing seals before lubricant is added.
Common signs of failure / service requirement:
• Gear lubricant contains water or appears milky
• Lubricant leaks from the propeller-shaft, driveshaft or shift-shaft seals
• Gearcase has been rebuilt and requires leak validation
• Housing impact damage or corrosion may have compromised sealing
• Pressure or vacuum will not remain stable during testing
