🔌 Function
Provides a fixed threaded anchor in a casting so a component can be located and clamped by a nut.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Nut will not tighten because the exposed thread is stripped
- Stud unscrews from the casting when the nut is undone
- Corrosion or seizure between nut and stud
- Stud bent or the end broken flush with the casting
- Joint working loose and leaking or knocking
🛠️ Service Notes
- Clean the casting thread before fitting and set the stud to the same protrusion as the one removed
- If a stud has snapped in the casting, extract the remains before fitting the new one rather than forcing it in
