⚙️ Key Features

  • Rated 14V 90A
  • 5.752 kg
  • Supersedes 1578938, also listed as a 14V 90A alternator
  • 41 applications across TWD, TID, TD and TAD series engines

🔌 Function

Driven by the engine belt to generate charging current for the batteries and the vessel electrical system.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Batteries not charging or charge warning light staying on
  • Charging voltage low, high or unstable at the panel
  • Whining, grinding or rumbling from the alternator bearings
  • Burning smell or discoloured windings visible through the vents
  • Belt squealing, glazed or throwing dust

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Confirm the 14V 90A rating matches your installation, as a different output changes both the charging behaviour and the cabling requirement
  • Before fitting, check the belt, tensioner, heavy cables and earth path, as a poor connection reproduces every symptom of a failed alternator
  • Isolate the batteries before disconnecting the alternator, and never run the engine with the output cable disconnected
