🔌 Function

The distributor pickup sensor detects shaft position and generates the timing signal used by the ignition module or engine-control unit. A clean, stable signal is required for correct coil switching and spark timing.

Common signs of failure / service requirement:

• Crank/no-start with no distributor trigger signal

• Intermittent stalling as the distributor heats up

• Erratic tachometer signal or unstable ignition timing

• Weak or irregular pickup-coil resistance/output

• Damaged wires, corroded terminals or reluctor contact
