Transfers heat between two fluid circuits without letting them mix, carrying the working fluid through its tubes or plates.

  • Temperature climbing under sustained load
  • Tubes furred, silted or blocked by debris
  • Weeping at the end seals or gaskets
  • Oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil, showing an internal breach
  • Pressure test failing after cleaning

  • Pressure test the element before condemning anything else in the circuit, and check the raw water strainer and pump if it has silted up
  • Renew all seals and O-rings on reassembly
