Volvo Penta water-resistant grease is designed to provide excellent adhesion, water resistance and load-carrying properties, as well as long-term protection against corrosion. It is a multi-purpose premium grease and is highly recommended for greasing propeller shafts, folding propellers and all other propeller components. This is the tube 25 g pack, grade NLGI 2, coloured blue.

🔌 Function

Lubricates and water-proofs propeller shaft splines, threads and packing boxes so they do not seize or corrode in seawater.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Propeller seized on its shaft taper or splines at haul-out
• Rust staining or white corrosion product on the splines
• Splines dry and bright, with fretting wear
• Propeller nut difficult to start, or galling on removal

🛠️ Service Notes

• Clean and re-grease the propeller shaft at least once a year and whenever the propeller comes off - regular greasing is what stops the propeller sticking to the shaft
• One 25 g tube covers a shaft and propeller fit rather than a full service; the same grease comes as a 400 g grease-gun cartridge, 22618330
• Clean off old dried grease before applying fresh
• Classified as dangerous goods for carriage - confirm shipping arrangements before ordering
• The propeller shaft should be cleaned and re-greased at least once a year, and whenever the propeller is changed. Regular greasing prevents the propeller sticking to the propeller shaft. Refer to the operator's manual for recommended intervals
