Genuine Volvo Penta sacrificial zinc nut anode that screws onto the propeller shaft nut, listed for a 35 mm shaft with a 7/8 inch Whitworth thread. It weighs 0.288 kg and is listed for 190 applications across MD, MB, TMD, AQ, AD and AQAD series engines. It is all but identical in mass to the 30 mm anode 833913 at 0.29 kg, so shaft diameter and thread are the only reliable way to order; the metric equivalent for a 35 mm shaft is 873413 on an M24 thread.

• Anode wasted to half its original size or less
• Anode untouched after a season, indicating poor electrical contact
• Corrosion pitting appearing on the propeller, shaft or bracket
• Anode loose or missing on lift-out

🛠️ Service Notes

• Volvo Penta now recommends aluminium anodes for salt and brackish water rather than zinc, and is gradually phasing most zinc anodes out, so check the current listing before reordering zinc
• Measure the shaft and check the nut thread - 833913 is the 30 mm Whitworth anode and 873413 the metric M24 one
• Bed it on clean bright metal, never paint it, and expect life to vary with water flow, salinity, temperature, pollution and any stray current
• Match the thread as well as the shaft diameter - the range mixes imperial and metric threads
