🔌 Function

Routes coolant or intake water round a bend between two connections, holding the flow path and its sealing faces in the right positions.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Weeping or drips from the flange joints
  • Corrosion pitting or scaling on the internal bore
  • Sealing face pitted so a new gasket will not hold
  • Flange distorted or a fixing thread pulled

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the flange gaskets and clean both faces back to metal, as corroded bends rarely reseal on the old joint
