🔌 Function

Takes up slack in the belt drive and holds the correct running tension so the belt grips its pulleys without slipping.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Belt squealing or slipping under load
  • Charging output dropping off as the belt slips
  • Tensioner seized, notchy or with no adjustment left
  • Slots or threads worn or corroded so the setting will not hold
  • Belt running to one side of its pulleys

  • Renew the belt with the tensioner and set tension to the figure for the installation, then recheck after the first hours of running
  • Check the pulley grooves for wear at the same time, since worn pulleys will not hold tension however good the tensioner is
