Closes off an opening in the engine, retaining oil or coolant inside and keeping dirt out.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Oil or coolant seeping from the cover joint
  • Sealing face bowed, especially between the fixings
  • Cover cracked at a fixing boss
  • Fixing threads pulled or the holes elongated
  • Gasket found extruded or crushed on removal

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the gasket or sealing ring and pull the fixings down evenly from the centre outwards
