⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Weeping or dripping at the union when the system is pressurised
• Reduced flow through the connection from a silted or coked bore
• Thread stripped or galled on removal
• Sealing faces scored, crushed or distorted
• Union nipping up but never sealing however hard it is tightened

🛠️ Service Notes

• Always fit new sealing washers either side of the union — the old ones are work-hardened and will not seal twice
• Check the centre bore is clear before fitting; a blocked hollow screw starves the circuit even though the joint looks perfect
• Tighten firmly but not hard — the drilled shank is weaker than a solid bolt of the same size
