⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Coolant or seawater weeping from the joint face
• Corrosion pitting and scaling on the wetted side
• Sealing face no longer flat, so a new gasket still leaks
• White or green salt crusting around the studs
• Studs or threads wasted where they pass into the water space

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the gaskets and sealing rings on both faces and check the sealing surface is flat before refitting
• Inspect and replace the sacrificial anodes in the same circuit while the plate is off — a wasted end plate usually means the anodes were spent
• Clean the tube stack while access is open
