🔧 Product Description
Genuine Volvo Penta cap from the Cooling System group, weighing 1.864 kg and listed for 4 applications across the AQAD and TAMD series engines. This is a substantial cast cap, an order of magnitude above cooling caps 845284 at 0.163 kg and 845879 at 0.057 kg, so there is no risk of confusing them once weighed.
🚤 Compatibility
Typically suits:
- Volvo Penta AQAD40B
- Volvo Penta AQAD40A
- Volvo Penta TAMD40A
- Volvo Penta TAMD40B
- Engine Family: AQAD, TAMD
⚙️ Key Features
- 1.864 kg cast cap
- 4 applications across the AQAD and TAMD series
- Far heavier than caps 845284 and 845879
- Cooling System group
🔌 Function
Closes the end of the cooling assembly, sealing the water space and taking the pressure behind it.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Coolant or seawater weeping from the joint face
- Pitting and corrosion on the wetted side
- Sealing face no longer flat so a new seal still leaks
- Hairline crack running from a stud hole
- Salt or scale crust around the fixings
🛠️ Service Notes
- Renew the seal or gasket and check the face for flatness before refitting
- Inspect the sacrificial anode in the same circuit — heavy pitting on a cast cap usually means the anode has been spent for some time
