Carries the pump shaft bearings and keeps the shaft aligned and supported against belt and impeller loads.

  • Rumble, growl or whine from the pump
  • Shaft play felt at the pulley
  • Bearing seats worn oval so the shaft runs off centre
  • Water or salt found inside past a failed seal
  • Water weeping from the drain between seal and bearing

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the bearings and the shaft seal together, and check the seats are still round before pressing new bearings in
  • Water past the seal has usually reached the bearings — inspect shaft 845970 at the same time
  • Set belt tension correctly; an overtight belt is the usual cause of repeat bearing failure
