🔌 Function

Carries oil from the sump pickup to the pump, holding the suction route in a fixed shape so the joints stay tight and no air is drawn in.

  • Oil pressure low or slow to build, worst when the oil is hot
  • Aerated, frothy oil from air being drawn in at a suction joint
  • Pipe cracked at a bend or fretted where it touches the block
  • Pickup end blocked with sludge or debris

  • Renew the joint seals - a leak on the suction side lets in air rather than letting out oil, and is much harder to trace once the sump is back on
