🔌 Function

Locks the hub to the shaft so drive is carried through the key rather than through friction alone, keeping the two turning as one.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Knocking or a metallic clack that comes and goes with load changes
  • Key found rolled over, burred or partly sheared
  • Keyway hammered wider in the shaft or the hub
  • Hub able to move a fraction on the shaft before drive is taken up

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Inspect both keyways before fitting a new key - a widened keyway will destroy the new key quickly, and the shaft or hub may need attention too
  • It belongs to the same 89-application set as sleeve 847725, retainer 847726 and striker plates 847727 and 847728
