⚙️ Key Features

• Supplied as a matched set
• 3.066 kg
• 93 applications across the AQ, TMD, BB, MS, B and AD families

🔌 Function

Transmits drive between shafts through meshing teeth, changing the direction and the ratio of the rotation on the way.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Whine, howl or growl from the drive that changes with load
• Clonk on take-up when engaging ahead or astern
• Metal particles or glitter in the drained oil
• Teeth found chipped, spalled or worn to a hooked profile
• Backlash that has grown noticeably since the last service

🛠️ Service Notes

• Fit the gears as a set - mixing a new gear with an old mating gear puts the new teeth onto a worn contact pattern and both then fail quickly
• Renew the bearings and shaft seals at the same time, and check the oil for the water or debris that caused the original failure
• Set the backlash and contact pattern to the manual figures rather than assuming a new set is correct as it comes

📦 Condition

• Genuine Volvo Penta part
• Brand new
• Supplied in original or equivalent packaging
