⚙️ Key Features

• For a 45 mm shaft
• Supersedes 828190
• 4.576 kg
• 41 applications across six engine series
• 45mm (Volvo assembly listing)

🔌 Function

Seals the propeller shaft where it passes through the hull, compressing packing around the turning shaft to keep the sea out.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• A steady run of water past the shaft that will not adjust out
• Gland nut wound down to the end of its travel with no adjustment left
• Stuffing box running hot to the touch after a run
• Hose, clips or housing corroded, split or perished
• Shaft scored or grooved where the packing bears

🛠️ Service Notes

• This seals the hull below the waterline - do not disturb it afloat unless you can close off or plug the shaft, and check it for leaks before leaving the boat unattended
• Measure the shaft before ordering - 859016 is the 40 mm version
• Renew the hose and double clip it, and check the shaft for scoring while the packing is out
