🔌 Function

Seals a small joint face on the engine, keeping oil or coolant contained where two components meet.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • A weep or damp patch at the joint that will not dry out
  • Gasket found split or torn where it was pinched on assembly
  • Material stuck to one face and lifted from the other
  • Joint that has been over-tightened, crushing the gasket out of shape

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Fit dry unless the workshop manual for your engine calls for a sealant, and never over-tighten a small gasket to cure a leak
