🔌 Function

When the start switch is operated, the solenoid moves the starter pinion into the flywheel and closes the high-current contacts that power the starter motor. It releases the drive when the start signal is removed.

Common signs of failure:

• A strong click is heard but the starter motor receives no current

• No solenoid movement despite a correct start signal

• Intermittent cranking caused by burnt internal contacts

• Pinion remains engaged or disengages slowly
