  • Knocking or rumble from the front of the engine
  • Hub able to rock on the shaft once the fixing is slackened
  • Keyway mouth widened or the key found loose
  • Pulley running visibly out of true
  • Bore or shaft nose picked up or fretted on removal

  • Inspect the shaft nose and keyway before fitting — a hub that has been running loose will have marked both
  • Renew the shaft key 859665 rather than reusing one that has been working
