⚙️ Key Features

• 1.572 kg
• 9 applications across the TMD, MS, TAMD and MD series
• Engine group
• Works against starter pinion 859623 and starter motor 859722

🔌 Function

Provides the toothed ring on the flywheel that the starter pinion meshes with, so the starter can turn the engine over.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Grinding or crunching as the starter engages
• Starter spinning without picking the engine up, then engaging on a second attempt
• Teeth visibly chipped, hooked or missing in one part of the ring
• Damage concentrated where the engine habitually stops
• Starter pinion wearing out repeatedly after replacement

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the ring gear whenever pinion damage is found — a chewed ring gear will strip a new pinion in a handful of starts
• Starter pinion 859623 and starter repair kit 859620 are the matching Starting System items in this run
• Check the starter's alignment and mounting on refitting, since a misaligned starter is what damages the teeth in the first place
