⚙️ Key Features

• Supersedes 840407
• 0.054 kg
• 23 applications on D series engines
• Matching inlet valve is 860074

🔌 Function

Opens to release the burnt gas from the cylinder and seals the chamber when closed, running far hotter than the inlet valve it works alongside.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Compression down on one cylinder, with a puffing note at the exhaust
• Valve clearance closing up between checks as the valve sinks into its seat
• Head burnt, cupped or with a notch eaten out of the margin
• Stem scuffed or the valve rocking visibly in its guide
• Misfire that is worst under load, with the engine running hot

🛠️ Service Notes

• Exhaust valves and their seats wear together — have the seats cut when the valves are renewed
• Check the guides for stem play, since a worn guide burns a new valve quickly
• Renew both valves and reset the clearances after the first run
