⚙️ Key Features

• Supersedes 860541
• 0.726 kg
• 46 applications across six engine series
• Engine group

🔌 Function

Closes the top of the cylinder head over the valve gear, keeping oil in and dirt out while containing the oil thrown off by the rockers.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Oil weeping down the side of the head from the cover joint
• Oily film or dirt sticking to the outside of the engine below the cover line
• Cover distorted or bowed between the fixings, usually from over-tightening
• Gasket found hard, flattened or squeezed out of its groove
• Fixing bolts or their grommets found loose, or the threads pulled

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the gasket whenever the cover comes off and pull the fixings down evenly to the specified torque - most valve cover leaks are caused by over-tightening, not under-tightening
• Insert 860601 also carries 860541 as its superseded number, so if an old parts list quotes 860541, confirm whether you need the cover or the insert before ordering
