🔌 Function

Opens and closes the valves in the right order and at the right moment through the valve gear.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Ticking or tapping from the valve gear
  • Loss of power, or uneven running across cylinders
  • Lobes pitted, scuffed or worn flat on inspection
  • Metal debris found in the oil or the filter
  • Valve clearances drifting out of specification

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the followers with the camshaft, because running new lobes against worn followers wears both
  • Check the bearing journals and the drive gear before ordering
  • Supersedes 838630, so an engine built with that number takes this camshaft
