🔌 Function

Houses the thermostat and directs coolant either back through the engine or out to the radiator as the thermostat opens.

  • Coolant weeping from the housing joint or from a corroded area of the casting
  • Engine slow to warm, or overheating with the top hose staying cold
  • Housing face pitted or eaten away so a new gasket still seeps
  • Corrosion scale packed inside the housing restricting flow
  • Cracks around a fixing boss or the hose stub

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the thermostat and the gasket when the housing is changed, and check the hose stub for pitting
  • Refill and bleed the system to the manual's procedure, then recheck for leaks once the engine has cycled hot and cold
