  • Reading dead, stuck, or obviously out of step with actual conditions
  • Signal dropping out intermittently, often once the engine is hot
  • Diesel weeping where the sensor screws into its boss
  • Terminal or connector corroded, or the lead chafed near the sensor
  • Sealing washer or ring found hardened or missing on removal

🛠️ Service Notes

  • A weeping fuel sensor is a fire hazard in an engine space - renew the sealing washer and check for leaks at working temperature
  • Prove the wiring, connector and earth before condemning the sensor
  • Hold the boss with a second spanner when tightening rather than loading the housing
