⚙️ Key Features

• Inlet and Exhaust System group
• 55.5 kg, a freight item
• 21 applications across six engine series
• The only one of the three mufflers here covering the MD and D series

🔌 Function

Silences the exhaust gas leaving the engine, dropping the noise before the gas passes out of the vessel.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Exhaust noise rising noticeably with no change in engine condition
• Soot staining or blowing at a seam or joint face
• Rust perforation at the lowest point where condensate collects
• A rattle or shifting weight from inside the body, meaning internal baffles have broken up
• Exhaust fumes detectable in the engine space

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew all gaskets and clamps and pressure check the joints, as a leaking exhaust puts carbon monoxide into the engine space
• Check the hangers and their rubbers at the same time, since a sagging muffler loads the exhaust joints
• At 55.5 kg this is a two person lift and ships as a freight item
