🔌 Function

Provides the plain bearing surface a shaft turns in, carrying the load and holding the shaft on its centre line.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Knock or rumble that appears when the take-off is engaged
  • Play felt when the shaft is rocked by hand
  • Bushing bore worn oval, scored or with the bearing surface picked up
  • Shaft seal leaking because the shaft is no longer running true
  • Bronze or metallic debris found in the oil

  • Check the shaft journal for wear and scoring before fitting a new bushing, as a worn shaft will chew it out again
  • Renew the shaft seal at the same time and confirm the oil feed to the bearing is clear
