Sprays oil at the underside of the piston to carry heat away from the crown.

  • Piston crown or ring belt overheating, found as scuffing on strip-down
  • Oil pressure lower than usual if the jet valve is held open
  • Nozzle bent, blocked or pointing off the piston
  • Ticking or rattle where a bent jet is touching the piston skirt
  • Heat discolouration on the underside of the piston
