Seals a static joint by being squeezed into its groove, filling the space between the two faces so fluid or gas cannot pass.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- A weep, drip or slow seepage at the joint
- Ring found flattened, nicked or extruded out of its groove
- Rubber hardened, glazed or gone chalky and taking a set
- A joint that will not stay tight however carefully it is assembled
🛠️ Service Notes
- Check the groove and the lead-in chamfer for burrs before fitting - damage done during assembly is a common cause of a new ring leaking
- Never re-use an o-ring that has been compressed once
