Takes the galvanic corrosion on itself so that the propeller shaft and gear it protects are not attacked.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Over half the anode gone
• White powdery deposit and a flaking surface
• Anode unwasted but dull and passivated
• Fresh corrosion breaking out on the shaft or propeller
• Anode able to rotate on the shaft

🛠️ Service Notes

• Volvo Penta now recommends aluminium anodes for salt and brackish water rather than zinc, and is gradually phasing most zinc anodes out, so check the current listing before reordering zinc
• Confirm the shaft is 45 mm with an M30 thread - 828140 is the Whitworth-threaded anode for 40 mm and 45 mm shafts
• Replace when about half consumed, clean the seat to bright metal and leave the anode unpainted
• Match the thread as well as the shaft diameter - the range mixes imperial and metric threads
