🔌 Function

Locks the propeller to the shaft so that drive torque is carried by the key rather than by friction on the taper alone.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Key sheared, rolled over or twisted
• Keyway in the shaft or hub picked up or spread
• Propeller found loose on the shaft with the key beaten out
• Knocking or a shudder from the drive under power
• Key a slack fit in the keyway when checked

🛠️ Service Notes

• Measure the shaft - 25 mm takes this key, 30 mm takes 873487, and the four-blade hardware uses 873496 for 35 mm and 873505 for 40 mm
• Renew the key any time a propeller has been found loose, and inspect both keyways for damage before refitting
• Hub kits exclude the key and the nut, so add both to the order
