874871 Power Cable | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta power cable, 2500 mm long, from the Cables and Fuses group, weighing 0.67 kg and listed for 12 applications across D, TAMD and MD series engines. It supersedes part number 874131, which was catalogued earlier simply as a cable. Control cable 874896 in the same group is also 2500 mm long, so length alone will not tell the two apart — order by the cable's role.

⚙️ Key Features

• 2500 mm long
• 0.67 kg
• Listed for 12 applications across D, TAMD and MD series engines
• Supersedes 874131, catalogued earlier as a cable
• L=2500mm / L=3000mm (Volvo assembly listing)

🔌 Function

Runs battery power the length of the installation, feeding the control and instrument side from the engine's supply point.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Dim or flickering instruments, worst when the engine is cranking
• Connector ends green with corrosion or wet inside the boot
• Insulation hardened, cracked or chafed along a run
• Warning lamps or panel dropping out as the boat moves
• Cable warm to the touch under load, indicating a high-resistance joint

🛠️ Service Notes

• Measure length along the actual run before ordering — this cable is the 2500 mm version and the group holds other lengths
• Control cable 874896 shares the 2500 mm length but is a different part; check the group and function, not the tape measure
