874903 Tachometer | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta tachometer with a black face, 85 mm in diameter, weighing 0.206 kg and listed for 47 applications across D, TWD and TAD series engines. It consolidates five earlier numbers — 873998, 874012, 874497, 874496 and 874758. The white-faced 85 mm tachometer is 874928, which covers the same three engine series; face colour is what separates the two, so match the rest of the panel before ordering.

🔌 Function

Displays engine speed at the helm or control station, driven from the engine's speed signal.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Needle reading zero, sticking, or pinned at full scale
• Reading wandering or jumping while engine speed is steady
• Panel illumination dead while the needle still works
• Condensation or water staining behind the glass
• Reading that disagrees with a second known-good instrument on the same engine

🛠️ Service Notes

• Check the speed signal source and the instrument earth before condemning the tachometer — a bad earth reads exactly like a dead gauge
• The 85 mm instruments share a face size, so colour and scale are what must match the rest of the panel
