🔧 Product Description

Genuine MerCruiser 1.7L Diesel Heat Exchanger Assembly - Part Number: 882716

A genuine used complete heat exchanger assembly for the Cummins MerCruiser Diesel 1.7L-120 DTI engine package.

The assembly transfers heat from the engine's closed fresh-water coolant into the raw seawater circuit without mixing the two fluids. It incorporates the exchanger core, casing, end covers and associated connections used by the Isuzu-based 1.7L engine.

⚙️ Key Features

  • Genuine MerCruiser complete heat exchanger assembly
  • Correct part number 882716
  • Designed for the D1.7L DTI and CMD 1.7L-120 diesel
  • Separates closed engine coolant from raw seawater
  • Original complete assembly with replaceable core, covers, gaskets and fittings

🚤 Compatibility

  • Year Range: Approximately 1998 - 2005

🔌 Function

Hot engine coolant flows through one side of the exchanger while seawater flows through the core on the other side. Heat passes through the metal tubes into the seawater, which is then discharged through the exhaust system.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Engine overheats despite serviceable coolant and seawater pumps
  • Coolant or seawater leaks from the casing or end covers
  • Internal corrosion or scale restricts exchanger tubes
  • Coolant level rises, falls or becomes contaminated through an internal leak
  • End-cover gaskets, core seals or pressure cap fail to hold pressure
