- Inspect before every lift and scrap it if the eye has elongated or a crack is found - a lifting eye is never repaired, only replaced
- Fit it to full thread engagement with a clean, undamaged tapped hole, and work to the capacity given in the workshop manual
- Keep the pull in line with the eye and never let anyone under the suspended load
