Squeezes the piston rings flush into their grooves so the piston can be pushed square into the bore without a ring catching.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Rings catching or breaking on entry to the bore
- Band or taper bore scored, stepped or worn
- Clamp not closing evenly all the way round the piston
- Compressor scuffing or marking the piston skirt
- Body distorted, so it no longer sits square on the block face
