🔧 Product Description
Aftermarket Mercury / MerCruiser 12V Isolated-Base Solenoid - Part Number: 89-96054T
New aftermarket four-terminal flat-mount solenoid for Mercury outboard and MerCruiser starter-slave or power-trim circuits whose wiring diagram specifies the isolated-base 89-96054 family. The same physical switch can be used for starter or trim-motor control depending on the original installation.
⚙️ Key Features
• 12-volt marine solenoid
• Four-terminal electrical layout
• Flat mounting bracket
• Isolated-base construction
• Suitable for high-current starter-slave or trim-motor switching where specified
• Application is controlled by wiring diagram and original solenoid number rather than horsepower alone
🧰 Assembly Contents
• 1 × Complete isolated-base solenoid - Part Number: 89-96054T
• 1 × Internal electromagnetic coil
• 1 × Internal high-current contact and plunger assembly
• 1 × Four-terminal mounting housing
• External cables, circuit breakers and mounting fasteners are not included unless supplied

🚤 Compatibility
Commonly used on:
• Mercury outboard starter/trim electrical systems and MerCruiser starter-slave or trim-pump circuits using the isolated-base 89-96054 configuration
Typically suits:
• Mercury inline-six and V-engine outboards whose wiring diagram specifies 89-96054T
• MerCruiser petrol-engine starter-slave circuits using the same four-terminal isolated-base solenoid
• MerCruiser power-trim pump circuits using the 89-96054 electrical and mounting arrangement
• HP Range: Not horsepower controlled; match the electrical circuit and original part number
• Engine Type: Mercury outboard or MerCruiser petrol marine electrical system
• Year Range: Application dependent across legacy Mercury and MerCruiser production
• Serial / Model Identification: Confirm 12V, four terminals, isolated base, flat bracket and the original 89-96054/850189/8M0185143 family reference.
🔌 Function
The solenoid allows a low-current control switch to energise a high-current starter or trim motor. Closing the internal contacts connects battery power to the controlled motor; opening the contacts stops current flow.
Common signs of failure:
• Solenoid clicks but the controlled motor does not run
• No click with a verified control signal and ground path
• Intermittent operation from pitted internal contacts
• Motor remains energised after the switch is released
• Burnt terminals, loose studs or heat-damaged cables
• Incorrect operation caused by substituting a grounded-base solenoid
📦 Condition
• Brand-new aftermarket replacement starter/trim solenoid
• New and unused
• Supplied in suitable manufacturer or equivalent protective packaging
