🚤 Compatibility

Commonly used on:

• Mercury/Mariner outboard and MerCruiser trim-pump high-current circuits

Typically suits:

• Engine / drive models:

• Mercury/Mariner 35-115 HP inline applications using the listed solenoid

• V135, V150, V175, V200, V220, V250 and V275 two-stroke outboards where specified

• MerCruiser remote trim pumps using two 89-96158T solenoids

• Selected Mercury starter-solenoid applications with matching terminals

• HP Range: Approximately 35-300 HP on documented outboard applications; MerCruiser is drive dependent

• Engine / Drive Type: 12 V high-current trim/starter solenoid

• Year Range: Approximately 1980s onward

• Serial / Identification Range: Confirm terminal sizes, insulated base, mounting pattern and wiring diagram. Plastic-reservoir remote trim pumps normally use two solenoids.

🔌 Function

Uses a low-current control signal to connect battery power to the trim motor or starter without routing full motor current through the control switch.

Common signs of failure or replacement requirement:

• Clicking with no motor operation

• Trim works in one direction only

• High voltage drop across burnt contacts

• Melted terminals or overheated cable

• Solenoid remains engaged after the switch is released
