The approximately 41-inch moulded seal fits around the joint between the lower engine cover and upper cowling. It helps prevent water, spray and debris from entering the engine compartment while reducing vibration and cowling noise.

Part number 8M0109217 replaces earlier Mercury seal 8253181.
