Genuine Volvo Penta valve collet from the Engine group, listed for 70 applications on D-series engines. Collets are a safety-critical retention part - if one lets go the valve drops into the cylinder - so they are renewed rather than reused whenever the spring is off.

🔌 Function
Locks the spring retainer to the groove in the valve stem, holding the valve spring in compression.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Ticking or tapping from the valve gear
- Collet halves worn or stepped where they grip the stem groove
- Spring retainer sitting low or cocked
- Valve stem groove worn, picked up or rounded
- A dropped valve, which wrecks the piston and cylinder head
🛠️ Service Notes
- Collets work as a matched pair on each valve - renew both halves together, never one
- Check the valve stem groove and the spring retainer for matching wear before reusing either
- Make sure both halves are fully seated before the spring compressor is released
