⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Fuel weeping or a smell of diesel around the separator
• Chafe marks or a bright wear flat where the pipe touches a bracket
• Work-hardened or cracked copper at a bend, usually near a union
• Flare face damaged, scored or over-tightened
• Pipe distorted or sprung so the union will not pull up square

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the union nuts and ferrules with the pipe rather than reusing work-hardened ones
• Support the run properly and never pull a pipe into place with the union - a strained pipe cracks at the flare
• Bleed the fuel system and check every disturbed joint for leaks with the engine running and again warm; a diesel leak in an engine space is a fire risk
• Part of the Volvo Penta fuel line fittings group. Volvo Penta supplies its fuel filters and water separators without connectors or union nuts, so the fittings for the pipe size in use are ordered alongside the filter.
