🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta magnetic plug for 822586, weighing 0.066 kg and listed for 6 applications across the TMD and TAMD series. It supersedes part number 1524292, which was catalogued earlier simply as a plug - the magnet is the point of this one, so do not substitute a plain drain plug for it.

🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

  • Volvo Penta TMD122A
  • Volvo Penta TAMD122A
  • Volvo Penta TAMD122A/C
  • Volvo Penta TAMD122P-A
  • Volvo Penta TAMD122P-B
  • Volvo Penta TAMD122P-C
  • Engine Family: TMD, TAMD

⚙️ Key Features

  • For 822586
  • 0.066 kg
  • Listed for 6 applications across the TMD and TAMD series
  • Supersedes 1524292, previously catalogued as a plug
  • Also supersedes Volvo part number 952078

🔌 Function

Closes the drain or inspection port and carries a magnet that collects ferrous debris from the oil, giving an early warning of wear inside the unit.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • A heavy furry mat of debris on the magnet at an oil change
  • Bright metal flakes or chips as opposed to fine grey paste
  • Magnet cracked, chipped or no longer holding debris
  • Weep at the plug seat or a rounded drive on the plug head
  • Sealing washer flattened, so the plug is retightened repeatedly

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Wipe and inspect the magnet at every oil change - fine grey paste is normal, flakes and chips are not, and that is what this plug is for
  • Renew the sealing washer with the plug and tighten to the specified figure rather than overtightening into the casing
