• Oil weeping or dripping from the drain point between services
• Socket in the head rounded so no key will grip
• Sealing face scored, dished or pitted
• Thread in the sump or housing pulled by over-tightening
• Plug refusing to pull up tight however far it is turned

🛠️ Service Notes

• This is the drain plug rather than a general fastener, so renew the sealing washer with it and pull it up to the specified torque - the sump thread is the expensive part to damage
• If the old plug came out with the thread picked up, inspect the sump thread before running the new one in
