🔌 Function

Clamps two components together, its integral flange spreading the load across the joint face in place of a separate washer.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Screw working loose, with the joint face fretting around the head
  • Thread picked up, galled or stripped on removal
  • Head corroded or its drive rounded so a socket slips
  • Thread binding part way down, showing the screw has stretched

🛠️ Service Notes

  • M7 is an unusual thread and does not interchange with M6 or M8, so check the marking rather than reaching for the nearest screw
  • The other marked M7 screws in this run are 986322 at 50 mm and 987736 and 989850 at 70 mm
