🔌 Function

Clamps a cover or panel by hand, the wings giving enough grip to tighten and release it without a tool.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Cover working loose in service
  • A wing bent or snapped off the head
  • Thread stripped or crossed from hand starting
  • Corrosion seizing the screw so it can no longer be turned by hand

🛠️ Service Notes

  • A wing screw is meant to be tightened by hand - if a tool is needed to hold the cover, check the joint face and the seal rather than pulling the screw up harder
