🔌 Function

Clamps a joint using a plain hexagon head driven by a spanner or socket.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Joint working loose or fretting at the mating face
• Thread stripped, stretched or necked
• Hexagon head rounded off
• Shank found bent or the screw seized in its hole
• Corrosion or seizure in the threaded hole

🛠️ Service Notes

• A heavy screw on a loaded joint is worth checking for stretch before reuse — if the thread has necked or the shank has pulled, fit new rather than re-torquing the old one
