9990164 Service Tool - Sealing Plate (9990164) | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

🔧 Product Description

Volvo Penta tool 9990164, published at 11.476 kg. Our listing carried it as a sealing plate, which never fitted the weight; Volvo's own special tools catalogue settles it - the number is a fixture, and at 11.476 kg that is exactly what it should weigh. The catalogue also names its 48 engines: D11 4f JP, the TAD1140 to TAD1172 series, the TAD1640 to TAD1672 range, TWD1643GE to TWD1673GE and TWG1663GE. Sleeve 9998487 is listed for the identical 48 engines and is a separate, much smaller tool.

⚙️ Key Features

• Volvo's tools catalogue designates 9990164 a fixture, not a sealing plate
• Listed for 48 engines across the TAD1140, TAD1640 to TAD1672, TWD and TWG1663GE ranges
• 11.476 kg - consistent with a fixture
• Shares its 48-engine list with sleeve 9998487

🔌 Function

Holds the component solidly and squarely while it is worked on, taking loads no ordinary bench mounting could.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Cracks at welds or at load-bearing radii
• Locating faces worn, so the component no longer sits repeatably
• Distortion or permanent set after an overload
• Clamp screws or fasteners bent, seized or stripped
• Heavy corrosion on a load-bearing section

🛠️ Service Notes

• The sealing plate name against this number is wrong - order it as the fixture the tools catalogue describes
• At 11.476 kg it needs two people or mechanical help to move, so decide where it will sit before lifting it
• Check the welds and locating faces before a component is loaded into it
