🔧 Product Description

Sawley's Select Marine Parts Aftermarket Yanmar 6LPA RHE62W Marine Turbocharger - Replacement for Part Number: 119775-18150

A new aftermarket marine turbocharger engineered as a direct replacement for the IHI RHE62W turbo fitted to selected Yanmar 6LPA-STP2, 6LPA-STZP2 and 6LPA-STZP3 diesel engines.

The verified IHI turbo identification is MYEV, with alternate IHI reference VA720086. The turbocharger uses exhaust-gas energy to drive the turbine and compressor wheels, supplying pressurised air through the intercooler and into the engine.

Correct boost pressure allows the 4.164-litre six-cylinder engine to produce its rated power without excessive smoke, exhaust temperature or fuel consumption.

Important fitment note:

• The verified model designations are 6LPA-STP2, 6LPA-STZP2 and 6LPA-STZP3.

• The verified IHI short specification is MYEV rather than MYEW.

• Confirm Yanmar number 119775-18150 or IHI number VA720086 on the original turbocharger before ordering.

• Other Yanmar 6LP and 6LPA engines may use a different compressor wheel, turbine housing or connection orientation.

🔌 Function

The turbocharger converts exhaust-gas energy into compressor speed and supplies pressurised intake air through the intercooler.

The increased air mass allows the engine to burn its fuel charge efficiently and produce its rated torque and power.

Common signs of turbocharger failure:

• Engine will not reach rated 3800rpm

• Reduced acceleration or vessel speed

• Low boost pressure

• Excessive black exhaust smoke under load

• Blue smoke or increased engine-oil consumption

• Oil inside the compressor housing or intercooler

• High-pitched whistle, siren or scraping noise

• Excessive radial or axial shaft movement

• Compressor or turbine wheel damage

• High exhaust-gas temperature

• Reduced airflow through the intercooler

Installation considerations:

• Confirm the original Yanmar and IHI identification numbers

• Correct the original cause of turbocharger failure before installation

• Replace the engine oil and oil filter

• Inspect the turbocharger oil-feed pipe for restriction or carbon

• Confirm that the oil-return pipe flows freely

• Clean the intercooler and intake pipework

• Remove oil, water and metal debris from the intake system

• Check the air filter and crankcase ventilation system

• Inspect the exhaust manifold and mixing elbow for restriction or corrosion

• Flush the turbocharger coolant connections where applicable

• Prime the turbocharger bearing housing with clean engine oil

• Renew all mounting gaskets and sealing washers

• Establish engine oil pressure before allowing the turbocharger to operate at speed

• Check for oil, coolant, air and exhaust leaks

• Verify boost pressure and loaded engine speed during sea trials
